In my alliance, there seems to be a hype on the idea that if a monk used D-shot instead of, for-say disciplined stance, they would be better off at getting melee off them (dev, h-bash, sin chains), with the possibility of rupting diversion/backfire on mesmers.
(For Low end PvP)

I personally think this is a load of bull, as I'd prefer to run disciplined or balanced, or if I must have a rupt, p-drain or leech, but I'm just one out of the many out there and I would like to see what your opinions on this would be.

(And Yes, I've heard of, and run Guardian -.-)

If you can consistently D-shot melee attacks other than Sin chains and obvious H-Bash -> Crushing stuff, then yes. Otherwise, it's more beneficial for shutting down spells.

It is a load of bull if you aim for efficiency. If you go for "fun" in low end pvp it's a viable choice. I think people suggest d-shot mostly because it makes them sound leet and so seemingly raises their standing in the pecking order that is gw pvp. While d-shot certainly is fun and stopping that sin or hammer chain can make you go "lol" it's really only good vs bad players or as a one time surprise for the not-so-bad players. The issue is that if you miss your interrupt you'll be stuck holding a bow in the aftercast basically saying "rape me now pls".

If you want to be original and more leet I would aim to copy the guy who bullsed 2 wars with a scythe playing a monk in gvg. I guess a screenshot is out there somewhere.

It's not as efficient as something like d-stance, but it's not that bad of a choice. It's mostly a "fun" skill, and that's the reason why people bring it, but it's still a decent option to have, just not as safe as something like disciplined stance would be.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he meant to and it's pretty hilarious seeing he got some of the better gvg players in his little stunt. Hopefully someone can conjure up the screenshot eventually.

It's a really fun skill to use as a monk. You don't just defend yourself, but it's a better res control than any mesmer skill you can take (Excluding Complicate.) And you can still take Natural Stride for IMS/Block.

if monks run d shot it usually means they're also running naty stride, which helps (to a certain degree) with kiting and avoiding attack chains.

and d shot is mostly for rez locks than actual spell rupting (though keeping things like avatars and apply down does help a lot too).

This doesn't seem overly effective when you weigh pros and cons. However, it could still be viable so long as you're able to consistently hit the interrupt.

D.Shot's very versatile. It can stop both melee and ranged, and can even stop dangerous spells from getting through. The downside is that you don't have any way of regaining energy the way you would with Bonetti's. It's a fun skill to use, but using a bow and experiencing an after-cast delay after you use D.Shot will leave you exposed to attacks, which a spear/shield set would normally slow down damage for you.

i'd only run d shot when playing for fun vs bad people at low rank.

And since im playing for fun, its unlikely im gonna try and rupt defensively with it either, i wanna win the game by d shotting RC. Monk is boring as hell when u face bad people, so people literally only bring d shot/hammer bash/counter blow/other for fun.

There is no reasonable argument why anyone would run d shot > a stance/return in any serious match. Its a fun skill only and if ur alliance tries to convince you otherwise, they are probably trolling.

When monks run D Shot on their bar it's most likely for fun and for low end pvp. I sometimes run D Shot in RA just for fun for field control. You'd be surprised how fast you can win matches in RA when you interrupt key skills and res. Bottom line is that in top GvG play you won't really see this, but for RA it's common since those matches are really short. Interrupting important skills in these short matches will usually lead your team to victory.
